Calabash Trust is a non profit organization established in 1999 and based in Port Elizabeth.  Its aim is to make tourism work for the disadvantaged communities in the city where thousands of children live below the poverty line.  Latita community soap project is based in Joe Slovo and Emafini Primary Schools, the people working on the project are parents who have been identified by the student governing body of these two schools. 

Summerstrand Hotel is assisting in this project by offering mentorship in Management, Accounting and Marketing as well as being the very first client of Latita, whose soap we will be offering in our rooms as  one of the range of guest amenities.
